Diamond R Industries provides our clients with field erected tanks built in strict accordance with the American Petroleum Institute’s standards. API 650 is the standard governing for welded tanks for primarily oil storage. This standard establishes minimum requirements for material, design, fabrication, erection, and inspection. API 650 is the industry standard for vertical, cylindrical, above ground, closed- and open-top, welded storage tanks in various sizes and capacities for internal pressures approximating atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure it the internal pressures not exceeding the weight of the roof plates. In addition, this only applies to tanks with floors that are evenly supported. In addition, this applies to tanks in non-refrigerated service that have a maximum design temperature of 93 degrees Celsius (200 degrees F) or less.
API 650 standard is intended for above ground storage tanks that are designed with an internal pressure of 2.5 PSI or less. And designed to provide adequate safety for a wide range of storage needs. This standard does not present or establish a fixed series of allowable tank sizes. Therfore, the client can select whatever size tank may best meet their needs.
